Malaysian Children’s Cancer Society launches grassroots action plan
Kuala Lumpur:

The Children’s Cancer Association of Malaysia (CCAM) was founded by Lavanya in 2022.

He founded this association after considering the challenges he faced after his child was diagnosed with cancer.

When her daughter, Mahiya Bala, was battling cancer, Lavanya learned about the expensive treatments for cancer.

He also learned that many children are losing their lives because of this.

It was on this basis that she founded the Malaysian Children’s Cancer Association.

Lavanya stated that the primary objective of this association is to reduce the financial burden on parents of children facing cancer in Malaysia.

He also pointed out that many families are struggling financially and are on the verge of bankruptcy due to the exorbitant costs of cancer-related treatments in government or private hospitals.

Recognizing the financial burden on parents, the association carries out various initiatives, including assisting charitable organizations and fundraising events.
Lavanya also confirmed that the funds raised through this will be dedicated to cancer treatment costs, insurance, and the purchase of medicines not covered by government subsidies.

Through such initiatives, the Malaysian Children’s Cancer Society will ensure that no child misses out on life-saving treatment due to financial constraints, he said.
This grand initiative was recently officially launched by Saraswathi Kandasamy, Deputy Minister of Unity.

It is also noteworthy that 6 individuals who demonstrated outstanding dedication and expertise in the field of pediatric cancer were honored with awards on the day.
